The Belarusian-Swedish Literary Days has been going on since 2002. Everything started in the wonderful city of Polesia, Pinsk.

Belarusian-Swedish Literary Days in Vilnius


Arranged by Litteraturresan/Belarus with the support of Sida, The Swedish Academy and European Humanities University.

12:40–13:20 Writer and historian: Andrej Kotljarchuk, Stockholm University: ”Belarusians i Lithuania, Lithuanians in Belarus”.  

13:30–14:10 Translator Jonas Öhman: About promotion of the Lithuanian language and Jurga Ivanauskaitè (1961–2007) and her book Ragana ir lietus, ”Häxan och regnet” (Swedish title).
14:20–14:50 Poet Anita Jacobson, Sweden, about ”The fortunate”.

15:00–15:45 Andrei Dvihun, about World of Tanks – a massively multiplayer online game developed by a Belarusian company. (There are 75 000 000 registered
players worldwide).

Swedish filmmaker Jonas Öhman, recent winner of Audience Award at Vilnius film festival, with ”The Invisible Front”, screening of rough cut material. Discussion.

A Tribute to Ryhor Baradulin: Zmitser Vajtsiusjkevitj with a forward of  Vladimir Nekljajev.

A visit to the birthplace of writer Czesław Miłosz, Šeteniai. Bus leaves at 9.30 a m from Didzioji g. 16. Vilnius. Guided tour at Czesław Miłosz cultural center. Picnic.
And of course some poetry on the bus! Guided tour for guests. 44 seats. We´ll back around 4 p m.

Due to Ice Hockey World Championship there´s a possibility to more easily travel to Belarus. It´s written that they offer visa free weeks in May 2014.

ÁRA går mot strömmen

Språket kan man inte kväva. Det lever i det talade ordet, i musiken och i våra  relationer. Språket finner alltid sina egna vägar genom nya möten, återkommande 
samtal, oväntade utbyten och kreativitetens obändiga kraft. När det moderna storsamhället växer trampas minoriteter allt för lätt ner av tanklös byråkrati. Styrkan och motståndet mot denna rörelse finns framförallt bland människor, i vardagen. ÁRA tar här en självklar plats, i mötet mellan samisk tradition och visionär energi. Med sin första skiva ”O” skapade ÁRA nya vägar för jojken som konstform. Ett musikaliskt möte som överbryggade kulturella gränser. 
Med sin nu aktuella andra skiva Vuoste virdái; ”Mot strömmen”, hyllar ÁRA de 
människor som stod upp för sitt ursprung och lärde sina barn det samiska språket 
trots de påtryckningar som den kulturella skambeläggningen innebar. En hyllning till 
alla de människor som då gick mot strömmen, till alla de som idag går mot 
strömmen. De som står stolta i sin tradition och historia och vågar vara sig själva. 
Tradition och förnyelse, vänskap och värme, jojk och improvisation. Det finns inget 
annat som låter riktigt som ÁRA.
